Collections: OPI California Dreaming, Part I

Here are 8 of the 10 that I bought (with high hopes since last year :/) of the 12 which comprise this collection.

Two have gone missing since these were purchased back in mid-April 2017 — GPS and Mouse House.

I never use GPS, nor do I ever set foot at Disneyland.

When initially received, I was disappointed and planned to get rid of all of them, but had a recent change of heart after going to a beauty supply for the China Glaze My Little Ponies and seeing how attractive and appealing the OPI California Dreaming display looked in person.

Now I might consider adding Carmel and even Yosemite to complete the collection, if I can find them later on at a discounter.

Meanwhile, I trekked over to the varnish warehouse and unearthed what you see below, but GPS and Mouse House must have been left behind. So they’ll comprise Part II, whenever I find them …

Feeling Frisco; Barking Up the Wrong Sequoia; Excuse Me, Big Sur

Time for a Napa; Malibu Pier Pressure; This is Not Whine Country

These three are turned around since Malibu Pier Pressure’s pigments have separated in front and I couldn’t get them to mix for the camera …

Santa Monica Beach Peach; Me, Myselfie & I

Gorgeous OPI jolie laides, part I

When plucking various bottles for the OPI Washington D.C. comparison, I ended up with quite a few that didn’t fit.

But I liked them so much, I swatched them separately anyhow … so they get their very own posts!

Skull & Glossbones, French Quarter for Your Thoughts, Suzi Takes the Wheel, A-Taupe the Space Needle

I pulled out the three greys above in particular, thinking to compare them to the Washington D.C. limited edition Liv in the Gray, especially since Liv in the Gray has greener undertones.

However, Skull & Glossbones is just too light, French Quarter for Your Thoughts leans rather lavender next to its neighbours, and I’m still in doubt as to whether Suzi Takes the Wheel should be housed with my greys or my greens …

So I ended up comparing Liv in the Gray to the much cooler, bluer-leaning Cement the Deal and Embrace the Grey …

… all the while staring at these four, wondering how it was that I managed to hold out so long on Pirates of the Caribbean and Touring America shades.

In fact, I’ve just recently purchased each of these separately, at a deep discount … I had swapped for Skull & Glossbones long ago and gave it away untried :/

All swatches are two perfectly smooth coats.

*Sigh*  I’ve fallen in love with OPI all over again.

GOSH Golden Dragon

Maybelline Be Scene in Green

Ulta, GOSH and Maybelline were originally shown in this post, but those photos suffered the same ignominious fate as my other early efforts …

Dear BB, may you look back on your summer surf excursions with the same bittersweet nostalgia I feel upon plucking these oceanic beauties from their drawer … when every trip to the drugstore was an absolute delight, as the market was exploding with multichromes several years back — just as I had lost my job with scarce to no pocket money to spend on these little bottles of liquid gems. Fortunately, I had made wonderful international connections via a shared varnish passion, and many generous ladies granted my every wish and more. In spite of my long spell of unemployment, I had begun to fill my treasure chest with gifts of multi-coloured jewels, which I now share with a small world of like-minded souls. Your tribe is out there awaiting your return to the shared element, my love.
