NOPI Mer-maid for Each Other (swatched with next batch on separate nail wheel since I ran out of chips)

Initially shown here, but I had inadvertently deleted the photos due to running out of space and not knowing I could purchase more :/

All swatches are two coats.

I’ll label the above photos soon, when I’m not so tired out!

NOPI Mer-maid for Each Other

Ulta Jaded

GOSH Golden Dragon

Maybelline Be Scene in Green

Ulta, GOSH and Maybelline were originally shown in this post, but those photos suffered the same ignominious fate as my other early efforts …

Dear BB, may you look back on your summer surf excursions with the same bittersweet nostalgia I feel upon plucking these oceanic beauties from their drawer … when every trip to the drugstore was an absolute delight, as the market was exploding with multichromes several years back — just as I had lost my job with scarce to no pocket money to spend on these little bottles of liquid gems. Fortunately, I had made wonderful international connections via a shared varnish passion, and many generous ladies granted my every wish and more. In spite of my long spell of unemployment, I had begun to fill my treasure chest with gifts of multi-coloured jewels, which I now share with a small world of like-minded souls. Your tribe is out there awaiting your return to the shared element, my love.

In the red — a teaser

Overwhelmed not only me, but my camera!

What a sight, what a task …

Organized by brand.

Once I get my hands on some sticks, I’ll swatch first by brand, then move the sticks around by shade as I have them in my drawer.

Yes, that drawer is on the verge of collapse! 🙂

Can never do these bottles justice.  They’re so much more beautiful in person.

More Mavala reds on the way from Canada, and I’ve since realized I forgot to raid my Asian drawer for the above photos …

This lineup wasn’t what I had intended to show you as the star of the post, but it turned out best, so it got bumped up to first place! 🙂

Photo belongs to Hanatsuki blog.  Thank you!

I have really tried to get my paws on Smelly varnishes, but Japanese mail and package services will not ship nail varnish out of Japan, in spite of my having successfully navigated the Urban Research web site and managing to fill my online shopping cart with a selection of lovely Smelly bottles.

Grrr…

So I bought Revlon Colorstay Hold ‘Em to tide me over.  In real life, it looks very close to Hanatsuki’s image above.

RBL Forgiveness (they sent me a new bottle to replace the broken but “rescued” one)

EL Insatiable (The varnish to end all varnishes.  I don’t know where my eyeballs were when this came out, but I only recently discovered it and of course had to have it.  I obtained it for a great price on the auction site, from a seller in Germany who sent it to me completely unsecured in a basic file envelope, half falling out of its beaten-up-by-the-international-postal-service box, but still intact and unbroken.  The flimsy unpadded envelope also had “nail polish” listed on the customs label, so I’m relieved and grateful I even have it to show to you here!)

Color Club Shabby Drab.  Been seeing lots of images of this lately and every time I do, I think, gotta get that one…

Of course I already have it, untried among my scads of dusty greyed blurples.

Givenchy Lilas d’Exception.  Truly an exceptional varnish, and difficult to photograph accurately enough to do justice to its beauty.

And below we have the outliers I had originally chosen for the above lineups.

They were either too bright, too blue, too red, too saturated, too dusty, too something to be featured above, yet still all kinds of gorge in their own right.

Kure Bazaar Boyfriend.  A rich hippie version of Essie Sew Psyched (which I don’t like, but have a habit of reacquiring and giving away).

So I don’t know why I paid $16 USD for a shade I keep getting rid of in its commoner and more economical incarnation…

Colour Alike is an excellent, affordable Polish brand; this came out around the time of Chanel Khaki Vert and Essie Sew Psyched…

One must be careful what she wishes for, especially when in the vicinity of a discount retailer.

Just found four items this afternoon that have been on my radar, for $4 USD each.  Essie Vested Interest was one.

Rita is also greener than she appears here.

The aforementioned, with Orly Teal Unreal tacked onto the end.  Orly is indeed greener in real life, as well.

Not Sally Girl Chillax – she does lean blue.  Must be chiquita pero picosa — tiny, but influencing the big ‘uns nearby

SONY DSC

L. A. Colors Color Craze Jungle Fever, Colorama Africa a Vista Mar Sem Fim, Essence C&G Trust in Fashion

Jungle Fever holds a special place in my heart due to unusual immense self-control in restraining myself from buying her on repeated trips to an Asian grocery store.  She was less than $1 USD, but in those lean days of 2012, I had very little money for extras.  Thus, I always consider her fondly.  🙂

Sinful Colors Last Chance, Catrice Hugo Moss

SONY DSC

Not sure about Last Chance (this and SC Envy live in the varnish warehouse untried), but Hugo Moss seems to be a great economical alternative to NARS Zulu.

xx blueberry milk tea

P.S.  I gave both Zulu and Galion away untried.

P.P.S.  Nail wheels are in short supply at the shops these days!

Finishing up the cool wintermint series…

…and plunging ahead into sea green and turquoise waters, all in one go!

Actually, I had to move all of these lineups, including take one, farther away than usual (over to the “green shelf”) due to nocturnal asphyxiation on my own vice-ridden air. Seriously, varnish fumes are overwhelming my bedroom at night. Maybe these bottles come alive and party on the rooftop of the Alex condo and less luxe tenements while I’m trying to sleep…

Swatches coming later; I’m out of nail wheels and want to have every single variation of green catalogued thus before the end of March!
